Top 5 Best UGC Approved University for Distance Education

When her two friends checked on her, she was ‚found slouched over the sink, unconscious,‘ the report said. They performed CPR while waiting for emergency responders to arrive at the house, it added.

Park’s agency XANADU Entertainment released a statement – carried by South Korean media outlets – announcing the singer’s passing.

‚We are here to share sorrowful and heartbreaking news. Park Bo Ram suddenly passed away late at night on April 11,‘ the statement said.

‚All of the artists and executives at XANADU Entertainment are deeply mourning the deceased with great sadness.

‚It is even more heartbreaking that we have to tell you this sudden news to all of the fans who support Park Bo Ram.

‚The funeral will be held after consulting with the bereaved’s family. Once again, we send our deepest condolences to the deceased so she may rest in peace.‘

Park first gained attention by appearing in audition show ‚Superstar K2‘ in 2010, which sees singers perform a song to impress three judges and the audience.

Four years later, in 2014, she debuted with ‚Beautiful‘, ranking 19th on South Korea’s annual chart that year.

Just ten days before her sudden death, on April 3, Park released a new single titled ‚I Miss You‘ and was said to be preparing for a full-length album.

Park is not the first young South Korean singer to die in recent years.

Last year, 25-year-old singer Moonbin was found dead in his apartment. His death was put down to suicide.

His manager found him dead at his home in Gangnam-gu, Seoul in April 2023 , YonHapNews Television reported at the time.

K-drama actress Park Soo Ryun died at the age of 29 in June 2023. She died after falling down a set of stairs.

Also last year, South Korean influencer BJ Ahyeong, a K-pop DJ, was found dead and dumped in a pit in Cambodia weeks after she quit her social media career.

Choi Sung-bong – who was 33 – also died in a likely suicide in 2023.

In 2019, four young K-pop stars are known to have passed away.

South Korea has the highest suicide rate among young people in the world’s developed countries, according to De Telegraaf.

K-pop stars come under a high amount of pressure through their work.

But while scores of actors, K-Pop stars and other South Korean celebrities have been victims of suicide due to mental illness, many have also died in devastating accidents and even horrifying murders.

Here are some of the country’s most high profile celebrity deaths in recent years:

Jung Chae-yul – mystery death

Tragic news of Jung Chae-yul’s still unexplained death rocked South Korea yet again in April.

The 26-year-old shot to fame for her role in Zombie Detective – which gained something of a cult following after streaming on Netflix- as well as I Have Not Done My Best, and the 2018 film Deep.

The actress, who was found dead at her home, had been set to star in the much anticipated K-drama series Wedding Impossible before the heartbreaking news.

Her agency Management S delivered the ‚heartbreaking and unfortunate‘ news, adding: ‚According to the wishes of the bereaved family, who are in greater sorrow than anyone else, the funeral will be held quietly and privately.

‚We earnestly ask you to refrain from spreading rumours and speculative reports in this regard.‘

BJ Ahyeong – murdered

The body of BJ Ahyeong – a K-pop DJ with 500,000 followers – was discovered covered in bruises and wrapped in a red rug in a ditch in the country’s Kandal province on June 6.

Police say her neck appears to have been broken.

Cambodian police have since arrested and charged a Chinese couple with ‚murder accompanied by torture‘ after the 33-year-old was last seen alive at the medical clinic they run.

Lai Wenshao, 30, and his girlfriend Cai Huijuan, 39, testified to police that they abandoned the woman’s body after she had seizures and died while receiving treatment at their clinic on June 4, reports said. They face life imprisonment if convicted of the charge.

BJ Ahyeong was an influencer for AfreecaTV, a South Korean video-streaming service, with hundreds of thousands of followers on Instagram.

Moonbin – suspected suicide

The 25-year-old singer, actor, dancer and model was best known as a member of boy band Astro and its sub-unit Moonbin and Sanha.

But on April 19, his manager tragically found him dead at his home in Gangnam-gu, Seoul at 8.10pm, in a suspected suicide.

He is believed to have been found after he failed to show up for rehearsals.

Born Moon Bin, he was part of the original lineup for Astro, debuting with five other singers in 2016.

Astro’s record label Fantagio Music said at the time that the South Korean star had ’suddenly left us and became a star in the sky‘.

The untimely death of one of K-Pop’s biggest stars, Moonbin (pictured), at the age of 25 was announced in April

Moonbin, who was also the older brother of K-pop girl group star Moon Sua, of Billie, went on hiatus in 2019 for health-related reasons, but returned in 2020 to appear again with the group.

His death triggered further debate over the mental health crisis in South Korea – a country which has one of the highest rates of suicide in the world and where 95 per cent of nationals report being stressed.

Song Yoo-jung – mystery death

South Korea’s controversial showbusiness industry also came into question when TV actress Song Yoo-jung died at the age of 26.

The celebrity, who starred in TV drama Make A Wish and won lucrative commercial deals including with cosmetics company Estee Lauder, was found dead at her home in Seoul in January 2021.

Although no cause of death was given, her death followed a string of suicides by young entertainers in the country.

South Korea’s controversial showbusiness industry also came into question when TV actress Song Yoo-jung (pictured) died at the age of 26

‚Actress Song Yoo-jung has left us,‘ Sublime Agency said at the time of her death. ‚Yoo-jung was a friend who always gave us happiness with a bright smile, and an awesome actress who acted with a passion bigger than anyone.‘

Her death triggered more debate about the intense glare of the limelight in Korea’s television and K-Pop culture, particularly for young women who are picked up by agencies at a young age and face vicious shaming on social media.

 Kim Mi-soo – mystery death

South Korean actress Kim Mi-soo, who like Park Soo Ryun, starred in the popular Disney+ series Snowdrop, died suddenly at age 29 in January 2022.

In yet another unexplained death, her agent did not reveal a cause for the tragedy, only saying her family was in ’shock and grief-stricken‘.

Kim’s agency, Landscape, said in statement: ‚Kim suddenly left us on January 5. The bereaved family is currently very heartbroken by the sudden mournful news.

‚The bereaved are deep in their sorrow at the sudden sadness.

South Korean actress Kim Mi-soo, who like Park Soo Ryun, starred in the popular Disney+ series Snowdrop, died suddenly at age 29 in January 2022 (pictured in October 2019)

Kim’s character was an activist and fourth-year History student who shared an university dormitory with the main character

‚We sincerely ask you to refrain from making up rumours or speculative reports so that the bereaved family, who are in shock and grief-stricken, can reverently commemorate the deceased.‘

Kim, who gained popularity for her role on Snowdrop as Yeo Jeongmin, a student activist, also appeared in the South Korean films Memories and Kyungmi’s World, both in 2019.

Meanwhile, she also appeared in Netflix’s acting drama Hellbound, which beat Squid Game to become Netflix’s most watched show in November 2021.

 Park Ji-sun – suspected suicide

In November 2020, prominent South Korean comedian Park Ji-sun was found dead at her home alongside her mother in a suspected double suicide.

Park was reportedly being treated for an unspecified illness and the Seoul Shinmun newspaper cited a police officer as saying there were ’no signs of outside intrusion or murder‘.

The exact causes of death are unknown but police suspect the comedian and her mother took their own lives. Her father had called the police after the pair failed to answer their phones.

Park was a graduate of the elite Korea University, where she studied education, but charmed audiences with her down-to-earth and self-deprecating humour – often light-heartedly playing the role of a woman repeatedly rejected on a date.

‚I am lucky as a comedian that I can use my face to make people laugh,‘ she said in an interview with the Hankyoreh newspaper.

Kim Jung Gi – heart attack

The South Korean cartoonist who held the Guinness World Record for ‚longest drawing by an individual‘ died of a heart attack aged just 47.

Kim Jung Gi, 47, passed away ’suddenly‘ in October while in Paris, collaborator Hyun Jin Kim announced at the time.

Mr Jung Gi, having finished his last schedule in Europe, https://chungchinghecacloai.com/ was heading for New York when he experienced ‚chest pains‘ at the airport.

He was taken to hospital for surgery but ’sadly passed away.‘ Mr Jung Gi left behind a wife and two children.

Lee Ji Han – Halloween crush in Seoul

Actor and singer Lee Ji Han was one of the hundreds of victims of a crush at Halloween celebrations in Seoul last October.

The 24-year-old had recently starred on reality TV show Produce 101 to create a K-pop band and later appeared on the popular drama show Today Was Another Nam Hyan Day in 2019.

His agency, 935 Entertainment, paid tribute in a statement: ‚It’s true that Lee Ji Han passed away due to the accident in Itaewon on October 29.

Actor and singer Lee Ji Han (pictured), who appeared on reality TV show Produce 101 to create a K-pop band, was among the victims of the Halloween crush in Seoul

‚We also hoped that it wasn’t true, and we were very shocked to hear the news. The family is suffering immense grief right now, so we are being very cautious. May he rest in peace.‘

They later added: ‚Please send a warm farewell to [Lee], who left us too soon. We will also remember Lee, who shone beautifully with his passion for acting.‘

Sulli – suspected suicide

K-pop star and actor Sulli was found dead at her home in Seongnam aged 25 on 14 October 2019 in another suspected South Korean celebrity suicide.

A member of girl group f(x), launched by SM Entertainment in 2009, her band had achieved fame across the country and the world.

The star, born Choi Jin-ri, had received online abuse from trolls throughout her career, and announced in 2014 that she would be taking a break from her band due to ’stress-related pain‘.

K-pop star and actor Sulli (pictured) was found dead at her home in Seongnam aged 25 on 14 October 2019 in another suspected South Korean celebrity suicide

She went on to focus on her acting career full-time in 2015, before launching a solo career with her first single coming out the year she died.

But amid her fame, she caused a stir in South Korea’s traditionally conservative society for not wearing a bra and publicly displaying her romantic relationships.

She was a victim of homophobia after sharing a peck with her bandmate and best friend Goo Ha-Ra – who also took her own life – at her birthday party. She was also an anomaly in the country’s music industry for speaking out about her struggles with panic disorders and being candid about the trolling she received online.

Goo Hara – suspected suicide

As K-Pop fans tried to come to terms with the death of Sulli, they then received the tragic news that her close friend Goo Hara had also been found dead just weeks later.

Hara, 28, was a former member of K-Pop group Kara, which debuted in 2007.

Her death, a suspected suicide, came after a previous attempt to take her own life six months earlier, when her manager found her unconscious at her home.

The death of Goo Hara (pictured) came just weeks after her close friend, fellow K-Pop star Sulli, passed away

The star had been through a difficult time in the year before her death, having taken her ex-boyfriend to court after he threatened to release a sex tape of them that he had filmed without her knowledge.

This kind of vile blackmailing is called ‚molka‘ in South Korea, and had seen a huge rise and another woman taking her own life around the time of Hara’s death.

 Tany – car crash

In 2018, K-Pop singer Tany tragically passed away aged just 22 following a fatal car crash.

Tany, whose real name was Kim Jin-soo, died in the early hours of the morning on Saturday 14 April after his car was reported to have collided with a structure.

Tany (pictured), 22, became famous for his heartfelt tribute to the 300-plus victims of the Sewol ferry disaster in 2014

The South Korean star had been driving on the Namhae Expressway in Jangheung County, in the south west of the country.

Tany shot to fame for his heartfelt tribute to the 300-plus victims of the Sewol ferry disaster in 2014.

The song, released in December 2016 was called ‚Always Remember‘, honouring the hundreds of people, including many schoolchildren, who had perished.

Letizia of Spain visits her mother-in-law Queen Sofia, 85, in hospital

Queen Letizia of Spain visited Queen Sofia in hospital on Thursday evening – as she now enters her third day of surveillance.

The European royal, 51, joined her husband King Felipe VI on an evening visit to the Ruber International Clinic in Madrid.

Queen Sofia, 85, was admitted to hospital on Wednesday with a urinary tract infection and is remaining under surveillance. It is unclear when she will be discharged.

After leaving the hospital, King Felipe told press his mother was ‚wanting to go out‘ but said he didn’t ‚know exactly‘ when that would be, according to Spanish paper La Vanguardia.

A few hours later Infanta Elena, Queen Sofia’s sister, also visited her in hospital, as the Spanish royals have rallied around their queen mother in a united show of support.

Queen Letizia of Spain visited Queen Sofia in hospital on Thursday evening alongside her husband King Felipe

Earlier in the day, Letizia and King Felipe had attended the National Innovation and Design Awards in Las Palmas, Gran Canaria – and she was still wearing the same chic pink trouser suit for the hospital visit.

While Letizia was as flawlessly turned out as ever, she did appear tired after a lengthy day of engagements and a difficult 24 hours following Sofia’s hospitalisation.

But she waved cheerily to cameras from the car and seemed in good spirits outside the hospital.

The visit shows the strength of her bond with her mother-in-law, who has taken her under her wing ever since she wed King Felipe in 2014 and the former journalist joined the Spanish royal family.

King Felipe, 56, has already visited his mother twice and was with her when she was first admitted on Wednesday.

He was later pictured waving from the passenger seat of his Lexus on a second trip on Wednesday afternoon.

He was quick to reassure concerned royal fans, telling media outside the hospital: ‚She is very well, cheerful and eager to be discharged and return as soon as possible.‘

Sofia has been the ‚queen mother‘ of Spain since her husband King Juan Carlos abdicated the throne in favour of their son Felipe in 2014.

Since then she has kept up a busy schedule of public engagements alongside her son Felipe and his glamorous wife, Queen Letizia.

The royal couple were spotted entering the Ruber International Centre in Madrid at around 7.30pm on Thursday evening

While Letizia was as flawlessly turned out as ever, she did appear tired after a lengthy day of engagements and a difficult 24 hours following Sofia’s hospitalisation

King Felipe has now visited his mother three times in hospital – and this is the first time he was joined by Letizia

After leaving the hospital, King Felipe told press his mother was ‚wanting to go out‘ but said he didn’t ‚know exactly‘ when that would be

She has focused on her sponsoring activities, spending her time between La Zarzuela and the Marivent Palace in Palma de Mallorca in the summer months.

As recently as Monday, she attended Fernando Gomez-Acebo y Borbon’s tribute but just the next day was rushed to hospital.

She also attended the wedding reception of Teresa Urquijo and Mayor of Madrid Luis Martínez-Almeida on Saturday, alongside a host of famous guests.

Sofia was joined by her husband Juan Carlos as well as their two daughters, Infanta Elena and Infanta Cristina. Elena’s children, Victoria and Felipe, and Cristina’s son Juan, were also present.

Queen Sofia had planned to travel to Huesca on Friday for an engagement at the city’s food banks, but it has since been cancelled.

She is usually renowned for her good health and stays active, including using a walking machine in her room in La Zarzuela daily. This is her first time in hospital since she gave birth to King Felipe in 1968.

Spanish media revealed Sofia has a urinary tract infections, which, if left untreated, can lead to sepsis.

However, the Spanish royal is being carefully attended to at the hospital, which is often used by the royals and is where Princess Leonor and Infanta Sofia were born.

Her son King Felipe appeared in good spirits after visiting his mother, reassuring royal fans that she is ‚well‘ and ‚eager‘

Queen Letizia of Spain, Queen Sofia and Princess Sofia of Spain leave the Beatnik restaurant on August 2022 in Mallorca

Born Princess Sophia of Greece and Denmark on November 2, 1938, at Tatoi Palace in Athens, Greece, she is the eldest daughter of King Paul of Greece and Frederica of Hanover.

A member of the Greek branch of the Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Glücksburg dynasty, her great-great-grandmother is also Queen Victoria.

This made her a relative of both her friend the late Queen Elizabeth an Prince Philip.

Because Sofia’s family were forced into exile during the Second World War, she spent part of her childhood in Egypt and South Africa.

She finished her education at the prestigious Schloss Salem boarding school in Southern Germany, and then studied childcare, music and archaeology in Athens.

Sofia also studied at Fitzwilliam College, a constituent college of the University of Cambridge.

A keen yachtswoman, the royal represented her home country of Greece as a reserve member of the Gold Medal-winning sailing team at the 1960 Summer Olympics alongside her brother Constantine (heir to the now deposed Greek monarchy).

Sofía met Infante Juan Carlos, her paternal third cousin, in 1954 on a cruise in the Greek Islands and again at the Duke of Kent’s wedding in 1961.

Sofia has been known for being in good health for her entire life, and hasn’t been to hospital since Felipe was born

Princess Cristina of Spain and Queen Sofia are pictured at the tribute service on Monday

They married less than a year later in Athens at the Catholic Cathedral of Saint Dionysius.

Upon their marriage, she converted from Greek Orthodoxy to Catholicism and changed her name from Sophia to Sofia.

Soon after, in 1973, the monarchy in Greece was abolished.

Together, she and Juan Carlos have three children: Infanta Elena, Infanta Cristina, and King Felipe.

Juan Carlos is judged to have been instrumental in Spain’s peaceful transition to democracy and, with his wife Queen Sofia, then enjoyed years of admiration.

The couple had a close relationship with Queen Elizabeth and the British Royal Family – Prince Charles, Princess Diana and their two sons Princes William and Harry would often spend holidays at the summer palace in Majorca.

Besides accompanying her husband on official visits and occasions, Sofía also undertook solo engagements.

She is executive president of the Queen Sofía Foundation, and is honorary president of the Royal Board on Education and Care of Handicapped Persons of Spain, as well as the Spanish Foundation for Aid for Drug Addicts.

As Queen, Sofia never publicly commented on political issues.

When her only son Felipe, then known as Prince of Asturias, announced his engagement to Letizia Ortiz in November 2003, Sofia took the former journalist and news presenter under her wing.

Letizia paid tribute to her future mother-in-law during her first speech since becoming engaged.

She said: ‚From now on, and more and more, I am going to integrate fully in this new life with the responsibilities that come with it… and with the support and affection of the King and Queen and the priceless example of the queen.‘

During the Easter service in 2018, there appeared to be a tense moment between Letizia and Sofia.

The Spanish royals with their children Cristina, Felipe and Elena on holiday at the Miravent Palace in Palma de Mallorca in 1976

The former newsreader was seen standing in front of Sofia and after a brief exchange appearing to try and take the arm of her eldest daughter, who then shoves both her mother and grandmother’s hands aside.

Letizia’s husband King Felipe VI then stepped in as his 80-year-old father looked on nonplussed.

Marie Chantal of Greece, who is married to Crown Prince Pavlos – King Felipe’s cousin – has since weighed in, saying on Twitter: ‚No grandmother deserves that type of treatment! Wow she’s shown her true colours.‘

But Letizia and Sofia’s bond is now clearly stronger than ever – as Letizia was quick to rush to her side in hospital.

In June 2014, Juan Carlos abdicated in favour of his son and Felipe and Letizia became King and Queen of Spain. For all his early popularity, Juan Carlos has been serially unfaithful and has been accused of multiple charges of corruption.

That said, three investigations against the former King were eventually dropped and he has denied any wrong doing.

Rise in teen boys demanding rough sex, choking girls as young as 12

There is a disturbing rise in the numbers of teenage boys demanding rough sex and choking partners as young as 12, new research revealed.

A recent survey by Dr. Debby Herbenick, known to be one of the foremost researchers on American sexual behavior, questioned 5,000 women anonymously at a ‚major Midwestern university,‘ the New York Times reported.

Almost two-thirds of women who responded said they had been choked by a partner during sex – but an even more worryingly statistic emerged: 40 percent were between the ages 12 and 17 the first time choking happened.

During a previous survey, the figure was far fewer at 25 percent (or one in four).

Experts warned that the normalization of rough sex during popular culture, the widespread accessibility of pornography and social media are driving this trend.

A concerning trend shows an increase in teenage boys demanding rough sex, including choking, from partners as young as 12. Porn and popular culture appears to be to blame. Pictured, Dakota Johnson and Jamie Dornan in the 2015 film Fifty Shades Of Grey

In last year’s single, by Jack Harlow, ‚Lovin On Me‘ begins with the lyrics: ‚I’m vanilla baby, I’ll choke you, but I ain’t no killer, baby.‘

The survey’s findings corroborate those of another writer and researcher specializing in sexual behavior, Peggy Orenstein, a sexuality researcher and college professor, who notes the rise in the choking phenomenon during sex.

Orenstein states how she was startled in early 2020 when during a Q&A at a high school, a 16-year-old girl came to her asking: ‚How come boys all want to choke you?‘

Then in a separate class a 15-year-old boy asked: ‚Why do girls all want to be choked?‘

One of the most common forms of rough sex is referred to as ‚choking‘, although specifically it is a form of strangulation as it sees pressure being placed on the neck.

Bother Herbenick and Orenstein say strangulation is becoming more widespread.

Autoerotic asphyxia – when someone restricts oxygen to their own brain for the purposes of arousal – isn’t new, with cases documented since the early 17th century.

But, historically, it has been ’niche‘ and an overwhelmingly male pastime.

Peggy Orenstein, a sexuality researcher and college professor has noted the rise in the choking phenomenon during sex

Dr. Debby Herbenick, known to be one of the foremost researchers on American sexual behavior, questioned 5,000 women anonymously. 1 in 4 said they were choked between the ages of 12 and 17

‚Sexual strangulation, nearly always of women in heterosexual pornography, has long been a staple on free sites, those default sources of sex ed for teens. As with anything else, repeat exposure can render the once appalling appealing. It’s not uncommon for behaviors to be normalized in porn, move within a few years to mainstream media, then, in what may become a feedback loop, be adopted in the bedroom or the dorm room,‘ Orenstein writes in a piece for the New York Times.

‚Twenty years ago, sexual asphyxiation appears to have been unusual among any demographic. That’s changed radically in a short time, https://chungchinghecacloai.com/ with health consequences that parents, educators, medical professionals, sexual consent advocates and teens themselves urgently need to understand.‘

Popular culture appears to have much to answer together with how widely accessible pornography has become, coupled with the influence of social media.

Herbenick recalls how during a 2008 episode of HBO’s ‚Californication,‘ the practice of choking was depicted where it was still both unusual and startling.

The trend only accelerated following the release and success of ‚Fifty Shades of Gray‘, the booking coming out in 2012 and film three years later.

By 2019, it appeared to have been normalized with a high school girl being choked in the pilot episode of HBO’s ‚Euphoria‘ and 2023’s ‚The Idol‘.

In last year’s single, by Jack Harlow, ‚Lovin On Me‘ begins with the lyrics: ‚I’m vanilla baby, I’ll choke you, but I ain’t no killer, baby.‘

Herbenick told the New York Times she is concerned at how widespread rough sex has become among young people and is keen for all parents, teachers and caregivers to be aware of the trend and possible harm it can cause.

In her book, Herbenick describes ‚rough sex‘ as a varied group of sex acts including choking, smothering, spanking and slapping.

She noted how during sexual activities between women and men, the woman is nearly always the person on the receiving end of rough sex, and the man is nearly always the person doing the choking or slapping or smothering.

Her research appears to suggested that many young people believe  sex is supposed to be rough.

Young men learn about rough sex from pornography, whilst young women pick up on it from social media memes and TikTok. Both sexes also pick up on ideas about rough sex from friends and popular culture including music and TV shows. Pictured Dakota Johnson in 50 Shades of Grey

In another survey from last year the average age at which young people first see pornography, whether on purpose or by accident, is 12 years old.

It means many teenagers are now watching pornography several years before they are ever sexually active with a partner.

The continual bombardment and exposure to rough sex through porn in turn sets up expectations as to how sex is ’supposed‘ to be. The ideas are also not being countered by proper sex education in schools or at home.

Herbenick says that when college students are asked why they participate in rough sex, they generally say because it feels exciting or adventurous.

If they don’t take part, they worry they will be branded as boring or be ‚vanilla shamed‘.

She notes how some young men worry they won’t be viewed as masculine if they don’t choke or slap their partner.

Herbenick states that young men learn about rough sex from pornography, while young women pick up on it from social media memes and TikTok.

Both sexes also pick up on ideas about rough sex from friends and popular culture including music and TV shows.

She reassures that they’re not bad people if they’re interested or have tried this – just merely responding to the world around them from popular culture, social media or perhaps after being asked by a partner.

But she wants parents to inform their children of the dangers rough sex can bring – namely that choking and strangulation can cause brain damage and death with no ’safe‘ way to choke anyone.

Those who are being choked find it hard to breathe or speak meaning a person’s ability to give consent or being asked to stop are often not possible.
